Uthongathi FC players and staff are yet to receive their May salaries after finishing the 2022/23 season in seventh place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Coach Papi Zothwane is also among those who have not been paid by the club, this publication has learnt.
The KwaZulu-Natal based side has become the latest Premier Soccer League team to be dealing with unpaid salaries.
Players normally receive their salaries at the end of each month but till today they haven’t received anything, this publication has learnt.
According to a close source, some players are being kicked out of the flats they are staying at, with those who are South Africans having to go back home, while the foreign players are left stranded.
“Players are been kicked out their flats, same with coaches as well, all debit orders have bounced and these people have families to feed,” the source told SSNEWS.
“Previously they changed the payday without informing anyone from the 26th to last day of the month.”
Attempts to speak to Uthongathi chairlady Nompumelelo Nhlumane were left fruitless, as she did not pick up her phone.
According to a source,Uthongathi Football Club are set to sell their team status as a way of paying their debts and all the staff at the club and it has also been confirmed that Uthongathi Football Club will sell most of their players to Premier Soccer League Team So That They Can get a better income and have money to support their families.
Uthongathi Football Club have confirmed that they will lose most of their players as Free Agents since some of them have requested to leave the club and some of the players at Uthongathi are set to be out of contracts.
The Uthongathi Football Club Management have confirmed that they were seeking for a sponsor but the Premier Soccer League has not approved their request for a sponsorship.
