Despite adding three strikers to their roster this season, Kaizer Chiefs are rumored to still be looking for another.
Marumo Gallants, an effective striker named Ranga Chivaviro, is one of the names Chiefs have been linked to recently.
In a recent league match versus Chiefs, Chivaviro scored, giving Gallants a share of the victory in a DStv Premiership match at the FNB Stadium earlier this month.
Later, he followed that up with a spectacular hat trick against Chippa United, which enabled his team to defeat the Gqeberha team after falling down.
In recent months, Chivaviro has been in fantastic shape for Gallants, where he has played a key role in both the DStv Premiership and their outstanding run in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they are surprisingly quarterfinalists. The Zimbabwean marksman has also experienced a successful period in the league, drawing interest from teams like Pirates and Chiefs.
The South African News just last week stated that Pirates had increased their interest in Chivaviro, but they would be in for a shock given rumors that the Zimbabwean had already finalized a deal with Richards Bay.
That doesn’t appear to be the case, as the tabloid stated on Wednesday that the agency of the athlete would like to transfer the youngster back abroad before considering any local deals.
Chiefs were dealt a further blow when the agent went on to expressly mention them and claim that their purported interest was unfounded gossip.
“I am hearing too many stories and people are calling me and telling me about Chiefs showing interest in Ranga (Chivaviro) and I tell them that I haven’t received any call from Chiefs. If they call, I will answer and if they don’t, we will see what the future has in store for us. But like I say, we respect Marumo so much. Because of Marumo people are talking about Ranga today” said the agent to Soccer-Laduma.
