Ajax Amsterdam ready for Napoli in their incoming UEFA Champions League clash this week.
Alfred Schreuder is very pleased with present-day Napoli . The current leader of the Italian Serie A will visit the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Tuesday evening and Ajax is therefore waiting for a difficult match in the Champions League , according to Schreuder .
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the man of form at Napoli. The Georgian came over from Dinamo Batumi this summer and left an excellent impression in his first months in Naples service. “I think he’s a good player,” says Schreuder. “He’s been doing great on the left side this season and he has a lot of individual qualities. How are we supposed to stop him? We have to do that as a team. He is good on the ball and in combination with Zielinski. We have to defend that as a team and not by one player.’
Stanislav Lobotka
In addition to Kvaratskhelia, Napoli also has former Ajax player Stanislav Lobotka . The controlling midfielder has reached the European top via a detour. “He has gone through impressive development,” says Schreuder. ‘It doesn’t always have to end when you leave Ajax. Lobotka is actually also a typical Ajax player. Anyway, Napoli is also a top club. In the triangle Lobotka, Zielinski and our Georgian friend (Kvaratskhelia, ed.) is really football.
According to Schreuder, Ajax nevertheless has chances to win. “It will be difficult, but it is certainly possible. We also have a strong team. We have many international players on the field. We have qualities that can certainly come to the fore against Napoli,” said Schreuder, who knows how important the duel with Napoli is. “Napoli already has six points. We want to be on the same level.’
