Ajax Amsterdam continues to rise in terms of merchandise income as they are far ahead of their rivals.
In terms of merchandise income, Ajax is far ahead of its competitors Feyenoord and PSV. This is evident from figures from Voetbal International. The commercial department of the Amsterdam club has done a good job.
Last year Ajax received around 36 (!) million euros for selling merchandise, such as shirts, pants and complete outfits. Last season Ajax released the Bob Marley shirt, which in retrospect turns out to have been an excellent move. The uniform sold very well and turnover in the field of merchandise grew by 65% among the Amsterdammers.
Feyenoord and PSV
“Partly because of this, revenues grew to almost 36 million euros, an increase of no less than 65 percent. “The merchandise income of the reigning national champions is now three times as high as at Feyenoord and seven times as high as at PSV,” concludes Voetbal International.
Loss
However, the enormous increase in turnover at Ajax, including in merchandising, did not ensure that the team from Amsterdam would not suffer a loss. Ajax suffered a net loss of more than 24 million euros, which, according to the club, was a direct result of the corona pandemic. The reigning national champion expects to achieve a positive result again in the current season.
That also seems imminent, since Ajax received quite a bit of income last summer after the departure of, among others, Sébastien Haller, Antony and Lisandro Martínez. In addition, Ajax will again play in the Champions League, which always generates the necessary money.
