This week on Tuesday, Kaizer Chiefs FC faced Capetown City FC on a 1-0 loss in favour of City at FNB stadium. Some of fan’s favourite players, the deffender Brandon Petersen and the attacking midfielder George Matlou were absent during that game, as they didn’t even make it to bench.
It has finally been revealed and confirmed why both players were absent. Kaizer Chiefs FC head coach Molefi Ntseki confirmed before the game that both players were ruled out because of injuries. However, Chiefs fans were not missing Petersen but they seem to be missing Matlou. Chiefs will play it’s next fixture later this month.

“We had a wrong approach of a static Midfield. Mthethwa is a natural 6 who does everything right, which confuses Castillo at times because he is a DM himself, as I said before. He doesn’t give us anything in that current position, he sometimes gets lost in the system and do not know what to do especially when he drifts on the sides.
“Maart can’t play in tight spaces, can’t pick runners and I’ve never seen him with a defense splitting pass before. So playing him with Mthethwa & Castillo was a bad idea because these are all defensive players.. we don’t deny their talent but they’re defensive. In that mixture of a static Midfield, Pule Mmodi would drop back to the middle again and pack. Expected to fetch the ball bcs the mid 3 don’t play in pockets, when he drops he has to run with it again because Saile is isolated up front since Ashley Du Preez was moving around as a second striker for second balls.
“I was disappointed with the subs again, Saile was taken out but he wasn’t engaged because of lack of creativity in the middle. Mthethwa is strong and has a very high tactical understanding.. I think he doesn’t need help(playing double pivot) . He should be played alone and put him with attacking players… The set-up was wrong. With attacking players Saile was gonna function, but no one was getting him into play.
“Mmodi is not getting better with decision making & selfishness. There was an opportunity where he should have passed Saile. Saile had a defender on his shoulder pinned back, he was ready to shoot and Mmodi decided to shoot. This is a 3rd match Mmodi is selfish. Ashely Du Preez was tired shame, you can tell he’s drained. All of a sudden he’s now expected to be a striker, winger , set piece taker, he crosses a lot of balls and so on… Slowly he’s getting lost in the system. The way he’s being used is starting to confuse him and he’s shying away from getting goals. Which is what he came for at Chiefs.
“Njabulo Ngcobo is a star, I wish they extend his contract. All the time when he plays he gives Man of the Match performances! Dove is a good player but overconfident at times, I think he needs to calm down. He’s trying so much. As I said before, we’re getting better and better with ball position, however we’re struggling to come out from the back! Again, shifting Castillo from a DM to other positions is killing the team, the guy was able to find Chiefs players even when they’re hiding behind opponents. Now ? He’s up there not doing that anymore. Ball possession we have is mostly enjoyed by defenders which I don’t see a reason we should applaud that.
“I love how we behave when we don’t have the ball. We shift very well , we close their passing channels very quickly and try as quickly as we can to isolate an opponent on the ball that was the positive, it’s not easy to break us. That’s why all the time when we lose it’s by 1 goal margin. I feel sorry for Ranga, coming from Marumo Gallants where the ball was really played & shared to a Chiefs that require strikers to drop very deep and run. It’s gonna be very difficult for him. Honestly, in the final third we look like a team that don’t train together. We looked like we don’t know what to do. Decision making is always wrong, It’s gonna be very difficult for many striker.
“It was heartwarming seeing Dolly back and trying so hard, though I didn’t like him coming from the side. This thing of playing players in wrong positions is gonna be the end of us, I even saw Mdantsane at some point on the left bringing in crosses.. eish , it was my first time seeing him play there. Tough luck to the boys, it’s a loss that hurt me so much because I saw it coming even before a match starts. 11 matches, already 4 losses? It’s gonna be hard for Ntseki to convince Kaizer Chiefs fans. Bitter pill to swallow, but we move forward.
