Former Kaizer Chiefs FC and current Sekhukhune United deffender Daniel Cardoso has claimed that youngsters that are playing at Chiefs will not win league for Amakhosi.
Cardoso was part of group of experienced players that are no longer at Chiefs after parting ways with Amakhosi. Those players include, a goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi(now at Swallows FC), a striker Bernard Parker(now at TS Galaxy), Lebohang Manyama and Samir Nurkovic.
Kaizer Chiefs FC and Sekhukhune United met on the first leg of the season, and Chiefs lost. However, these two teams will meet again this Sunday, on the second round in Peter Mokaba stadium. Cardoso has shared his thoughts regarding the current Amakhosi team under Arthur 10111 Zwane who is close to completing his first full campaign as coach of Kaizer Chiefs FC.
Daniel is aware of Chiefs’ high pressing game and he says it is something they are ready to face on Sunday.
“They are playing high press. They brought Ashely Du Preez for a reason, to get the ball over the top and you can see that it has been working nicely for them. He finds the spaces, so it is just something we need to work on this week(preparing for Sunday’s clash).
Cardoso also said youngestars like Mdudusi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane, Happy Mashiane and others will not win titles for Chiefs because they are on a re – building phase.
“I do not want to want to open a can on worms, but youngsters are not going to win you tittles and trophies. They are in a rebuilding phase, as you can see with Zwane, Shabalala, Mashiane. They got rid of all the experience players. If you look at Sundowns team, they have experienced players. That is why they win trophies season in and season out. He is got good foundation going on there, but to win titles, you need far more experience.
Daniel Cardoso shared this comment yesterday in Johannesburg stadium afternoon.
Apart from that, after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs FC, Daniel Cardoso made it public that some Chiefs players used to join training sessions while drunk. Some fans including Chiefs legend David Kannemeyer answered him by saying he was childish. Here is what David said;
“I have read the comments by the player and, in my opinion, it is careless, especially now that he has left the club,” Kannemeyer said.
“As a senior player, he should have addressed the issue with the concerned player at the time, then he wouldn’t have to speak about it in the media afterward as it would have been dealt with.”
“When you are at a big club like Chiefs, such matters are handled internally and not in the public eye. Therefore, I think the comments made by him as a bit childish.”
“Is it the truth? We don’t know. These things did not happen during our time. There are two sides to this, we could also say that it is a bitter pill for him to swallow now that he is no longer at the club, therefore, he feels the need to speak out like this.”
Kaizer Chiefs FC are through to the next round of Nedbank cup semi finals after beating Mamkhize’s side Royal AM 2-1. Samuel Mangai is the one who opened the scoring during that match for Royal AM. Thabo Matlaba scored an own goal that equalised for Amakhosi.
Chiefs Star and youngestar Mdudusi Shabalala got some minutes in last minutes of 80 minutes. However the game went to the extra time. Shaba won a penalty for Amakhosi, and Yuserf Mart converted it to make it 2-1. That is how Chiefs went through to the next round.
