Despite already having a lot of competition, Kaizer Chiefs may be lining up a significant addition to their goalkeeping staff.
Bvuma has recently been mentioned as a potential target for contract negotiations, but an intriguing story on Phakaaathi suggests he may actually be “sacrificed” as the team considers maybe bringing in a new shot-stopper.
“I think the deal is already done between the two clubs, they are just waiting for the end of the season so the player can start talking about personal terms,” said the source, who would not reveal the name of the possible target due to the sensitivity of the talks
Also, there are rumors that Itumeleng Khune, a seasoned goalkeeper, will soon undertake “crunch discussions” with Chiefs regarding a contract extension.
Khune’s current deal will expire in the middle of this year, so it should be kept in mind when Kaizer Chiefs evaluate their squad’s resources and needs over the coming weeks.
Khune signed a new two-year contract in July 2021 after being one of the five Amakhosi players who received contract extensions. Khune was even questioned back then about whether or not that would be his final deal.
“Is this my last contract at the club? That will be up to the club to decide,” Khune responded to such a query in mid-2021. “I’m really grateful for yet another opportunity that I’ve been given by the club, but I don’t know whether it will be my last. It will depend on what I still have to give on the pitch.”
Moving forward to this season, Khune recently discussed some of the crucial adjustments that allowed him to regain his peak match fitness and unexpectedly restore a regular spot in the starting lineup before suffering a minor injury
