Kaizer Chiefs FC second assistant guard has confimed that they planning on bringing a new left back to the club.
Talking to Mphatlalatsane FM earlier today, Ibrahim Muzi Pheko said they are looking for someone who will just not add numbers to the club, but someone who will add depth;
“We need to sign a Quality Left Back. Someone who is a starter not Someone who will add numbers on the bench. Actually if bekuya ngami we would add two more Left Backs and i know exactly where we can find them.
*Rian Hanumub is something else for me he is the best Left Back in the PSL both defensively and offensively also a hardworking player he definitely starts at Chiefs ahead of Hlanti.
*Fawaaz Basadien for me is also a good Left Back very good offensively he gives you modernity in terms of how he attacks can be inverted and he makes whoever he is playing with on the wing to shine.
I have always been clear about Happy Mashiane even under Gavin Hunt i said it that Happy Mashiane will never be a good winger but a Good Left Wing Back.
~You cannot have a winger that fails to dribble past players
~You cannot have a winger that over relaxes like Mashiane does
~He is always undecided he thinks when the ball is already in his feet
But i have seen the best of Happy Mashiane under Ernst Middendorp as a wingback he even kept Thembinkosi Lorch at Bay in the Soweto Derby even last year in the Carling Black Label Cup he held his own against Hotto,Jooste in the Derby.
Wingers you can see them check Sekgota very quick and tricky yet not playing but Mashiane is not even half of what Sekgota is and you expect to make it as a winger.
The guy’s chance of playing is as Left Wing Back otherwise all will go south.
The reason Pitso Mosimane converted Lyle Lakay to Left back is because he is a Mashiane kind of a player he can’t dribble past opponents his only thing in mind is to cross.
On the defensive side it’s something that can be fixed Lyle Lakay last season won the Defender of the season you wouldn’t believe that 3 seasons ago he was a winger.”- Pheko said.
Kaizer Chiefs FC currently have two left backs, S’fiso Hlanti and Happy Mashiane. However, Reeve Frosler sometimes play on the left side.
