Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso faces an uncertain future at Sekhukhune, as they plan around his replacement.
Daniel Cardoso who spent over 7years at Chiefs, has been at Sekhukhune United for three years now, and has been a consistent figure in the Sekhukhune United lineup, but words coming from Sekhukhune Camp suggest they want to trim their age gap.
Sekhukhune to discard Cardoso?
Word reaching the Siya crew is that one of Sekhukhune United’s veteran defenders is set to be off- loaded at the end of the season.
Indications from sources are that while Daniel Cardoso has served the club with distinction since joining from Kaizer Chiefs in 2022, it appears that when the 35-year old’s contract expires at the end of the current season, Babina Noko will not renew.
The man who started his professional career with the now-de- funct Free State Stars is in the last four months of his contract at the side. At Amakhosi, he featured an impressive 185 times, scoring 12 goals in the process – impressive numbers for a defender.
It was during his time at Naturena that he even caught the attention of national selectors, and played for Bafana Bafana, albeit only on three occasions.
According to Siya sources, the
club could be looking for younger options in his position, and the fact they have not yet tied him down to a new deal may suggest a parting of ways is on the cards.
The experienced defender, there- fore, may be forced to look for a club to play for come the 2024/25 season, as it is believed he still believes he is a few more years in his legs to compete at the highest level.
Daniel Cardoso will not be short of suitors should Sekhukhune United release him, the experienced PSL defender boosts of tons of experience, in the top flight and its highly possible for him to get a new Club, should Sekhukhune United decide against giving him a new contract.
