After only six months in Europe, a former Kaizer Chiefs player has been linked to an unexpected return to South Africa.
After being let go by the Glamour Boys, the 34-year-old midfielder recently joined Swedish Helsingborgs IF, but a trip back to South Africa is imminent!
In over 280 PSL games for various teams, Alexander has tallied 16 goals and provided 11 assists. According to IDiskiTimes, Alexander’s signature is expected to be sought after by two DStv Premiership teams.
“Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cole Alexander is on the edge of making his Premier Soccer League return with Cape Town Spurs and Polokwane City said to be interested in him.” an IdiskiTimes report read.
During his brief stay in Sweden, the 34-year-old scored one goal and provided an assist to help the team avoid relegation. However, Alexander’s contract was not renewed following Baxter’s departure, meaning he is once more a free agent.
According to information gathered by this publication, the recently promoted teams Polokwane City and Cape Town Spurs are hoping to add an experienced midfield player before the season ends.
While struggling Spurs need any assistance to avoid being cut at the end of the campaign, Alexander’s experience could be helpful. Polokwane, currently in ninth place, is looking to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.
Ernst Middendorp said that the Urban Warriors need to add more players if they hope to survive, despite the team recently announcing the signing of Mogamad De Goede.
