Thembinkosi “Nyoso” Lorch (born 22 July 1993) is a South African professional soccer player who plays as an attacking midfielder for Mamelodi Sundowns and the South African national team. He is named the South African Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season in 2019.
When Mamelodi Sundowns signed Thembinkosi Lorch from Orlando Pirates last week, they made one of the biggest announcements in the history of South African football.
Fans of the Pirates were taken aback when Sundowns successfully completed the surprise signing of Lorch on transfer deadline day.
With Lorch having finally made the transition from Pirates to Sundowns, rumors about his pay have inevitably started to circulate. Masandawana is known for paying its employees well, a reputation that previous chairman Patrice Motsepe was keen to maintain at the organization.
That has benefited a number of elite players, and the playmaker is expected to be among them. According to earlier reports, he could have made between R50 000 and R165 000 per month at the Ghosts.
With a staggering salary of R700,000 per month, it is thought that Bongani Zungu is the highest paid player at Sundowns. This is based on information from a brief.co.za report. That makes sense because the player was returning after a number of years abroad. Ronwen Williams, the captain of Bafana Bafana, is the player with the highest salary to leave a local rival, making R500 000.
Thus, it is not difficult to imagine Lorch making R450 000, which is a comparable amount or perhaps slightly less. It could be R350 00-300 000, though, given his age and the abundance of options available to Brazilians in his position.
