Kaizer Chiefs could part ways with one of their goalkeepers in January when transfer window opens
According to SoccerLaduma, Academy graduate goalkeeper Bontle Molefe set to leave amakhosi due to lack of gametime
At the tender age of 16, Molefe was promoted from Amakhosi’s development system
Molefe who will turn 20 the first week of January of next year and will no longer be a youngster, hasn’t played much and hasn’t even made an official appearance for the senior team yet.
Siya Crew revealed that Chiefs and Molefe’s camp would have “crunch talks” over the future of the soon-to-be 20-year-old.
The junior international’s contract with Amakhosi expires in June of next year, making him eligible to sign a pre-contract with any club of his choice as of the beginning of next month. The junior international had a trial with Belgian Pro League team Royal Antwerp in April of this year.
Khune’s contract is also slated to expire at the end of the current campaign, so the Glamour Boys will need to make significant decisions in the upcoming transfer window.
Amakhosi’s negotiating strategy with Molefe’s camp over their concerns regarding the young goalkeeper with tremendous potential’s game time may also play a role in how they handle the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper’s contract problem.
After receiving a two-year contract extension in July 2021, there were rumors that the 35-year-old may have signed his final contract with the Naturena-based team.
“Is this my last contract at the club? That will be up to the club to decide,” Khune said during a virtual press conference.
“I’m really grateful for yet another opportunity that I’ve been given by the club, but I don’t know whether it will be my last. It will depend on what I still have to give on the pitch.”
