Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung has reacted to drawing Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, saying it is the right time to face the Buccaneers.

Several Chiefs players and technical team members were seen celebrating after being drawn against the Sea Robbers in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.

With the draw happening at Chatsworth Stadium after Chiefs had beaten Royal AM in extra-time, many members of the squad and technical team had stayed on the pitch to follow the draw live.

Amakhosi’s name was first out of the drawing pot, before they were paired with Pirates, leading to some wild celebrations from Chiefs.

Bobby Motaung, who hardly talks to the media these days, says any team was going to be a tough opponent at this stage of the competition, with Stellenbosch FC hosting Sekhukhune United in the other semi.

“It’s a great draw,” he said when asked by iDiski Times about the draw.

“Any team that’s in the semi-final was going to be difficult. Both semi-finals are tough.

“For us to play Pirates, we can’t say we wanted them in the final or semi. This is the right time to play them.”

Chiefs have beaten Pirates in their last five successive DStv Premiership encounters, including a double this season, but Motaung insisted those results don’t matter when the Soweto rivals will meet in the semi-final.

“That’s in the past. This is a cup semi-final, a cup game and a different ball game altogether.

“But definitely it’s good for us to play them now.”

Bobby Motaung and the Kaizer Chiefs Management believes that they can win the Nedbank Cup Only if their players will be consistent and fight for the club, and he has also announced that if the team wins the Nedbank Cup the players will get their bonuses.
