No Billiat No Problem for Kaizer Chiefs – Kapinga, Serero and top players who can
With Khama Billiat disappearing after being offered a new contract by Kaizer Chiefs, Molefi Ntseki might have to look for his replacement soon.
Kaizer Chiefs have offered Khama Billiat a new contract but the Zimbabwean star has seemingly shunned it and has not reported for pre-season. Billiat has, effectively, gone AWOL as Amakhosi claim to have not heard from the 32-year-old after they offered him a contract extension.
Life has to go on, with or without Billiat and if the fate is the latter, Molefi Ntseki will have to look for a replacement for the skillful attacking wizard as his departure would certainly leave a gap in Chiefs’ attacking line.
Ntseki does have a few options within his squad, but the better and more experienced options would require the club’s top brass to open up the cheque book.
Lesedi Kapinga (Free agent)
Sundowns have a tendency of going overboard in the transfer market and that resulted in a talent like Kapinga being overlooked because of the amount of quality in his position. Kapinga is free of the shackles and stress of being a bench warmer at Downs.
He needs a big team to absorb him and Amakhosi could use his talent. He has the same small stature as Billiat, his first touch is just as good and he is currently in his prime. He can be the next megastar for Chie
Rowan Human (Maritzburg United)
Human is one of the most promising attackers in the country right now. He has proved that with Maritzburg United in the playoffs, even though the Team of Choice succumbed to Cape Town Spurs and were relegated to the National First Division.
Human is currently with Bafana Bafana in the Cosafa Cup and there too, he has set the scene alight. He has begged Chiefs to sign him and that on its own shows that he is ready for the responsibility and stardom that comes with donning the gold and black.
Thulani Serero (Free agent)
There is no PSL team that can say they are not interested in Serero. He is a free agent and Amakhosi can see that they are losing the battle with Billiat. Serero is the kind of big-name player that Chiefs need. Having played in the Uefa Champions League, he has all the experience that you need from an attacking midfielder.
He might be on the wrong side of 30 but Serero defines the phrase, old but gold. He has been performing at a high level for his former side Al Jazira and if Chiefs were to sign him, Serero would hit the ground running and within a blink of an eye, the Amakhosi faithful would have long forgotten about Billiat.

Mduduzi Shabalala (Chiefs)
Mduduzi Shabalala is a fan favourite. The boy is a gem, no matter how you look at it. He needs to look across the fence and take note from Sundowns’ Cassius Mailula. He came in at a time when Peter Shalulile was injured and he made that strikers’ role his own.
Sometimes you don’t need experience, you just have to play your game and make your mark which is what Mailula did and now, Shabalala needs to take note.
Ashley Du Preez (Chiefs)
He needs to step up. Last season was his adapting season at Naturena but now he needs to raise his hand and help players like Keagan Dolly to carry the load.
There are new players at Chiefs and he needs to put his foot down and be recognized as the star that Amakhosi want him to be. Du Preez was one of the best players at Stellenbosch FC and he needs to be the paper that Molefi Ntseki writes his starting line-up on at Chiefs.
Andile Jali (Free agent)
This might raise eyebrows because Jali is not the flamboyant player that Billiat is. But in terms of reliance and big-match temperament, Jali would be the right fit as a replacement for the Zimbabwean international.
Jali will without a doubt be an impactful player wherever he goes and he will want to prove a point to Sundowns for letting him go. How better than to join Amakhosi and assume the talisman role Khama used to play?
Amakhosi will look onto signing Lesedi Kapinga in the next few days after the Cosafa Cup.
