When a senior midfield player’s contract expires at the end of the current season, Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly ready to let him go.
According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs will not extend the contract of one of their midfield players. Players and the coaching staff of the Chiefs can anticipate some changes at the end of the season.
Due to the squad’s poor play, Chiefs are currently lingering in sixth place in the DStv Premiership. The group’s performance in the cup competitions hasn’t improved either.
They were eliminated from both the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout Cup under Molefi Ntseki. The Amakhosi management decided to relieve the former Bafana Bafana coach of his responsibilities as a result. Chiefs then used Cavin Johnson, who had been in charge of the team’s academy, as an interim coach.
Midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe is a senior who hasn’t received much attention from either of the coaches. Sithebe was an unexpected choice for the season’s opening matchup against Mamelodi Sundowns. He had a terrible game and it turned out to be the beginning of the end for him.
Since then, he has had difficulty making the squad for the match, which has been exacerbated by injuries.
Last season, there were rumors that Sithebe was going to leave, but he was saved by a fantastic second half. But it appears like his time with the Chiefs is coming to an end this time. The Citizen claims that when his contract expires in June, the club will not extend it.
“Last year was not good for him (Sithebe) with injuries and he has been out for too long. The unfortunate part for Sithebe is that his contract is ending when the season is over and it doesn’t look good for him. To be frank with you, I don’t think he will get an extension.” Said the source.
