Kaizer Chiefs the Soweto giants are fighting to keep their standout midfield player, who is currently the best player in the team, for MAHALA.
If Kaizer Chiefs’ star midfielder Edson Castillo decides to move abroad, the team might not stop him. But the club don’t want him to leave just like that.
Castillo may depart Kaizer Chiefs if he consents, having joined the team at the start of the season. Zamalek, an Egyptian powerhouse, was said to be interested in Amakhosi star.
They may need to pay Amakhosi about R40 million for the Venezuelan midfield player if he decides to leave, according to SoccerLaduma ‘Siya Crew’
“Now that the inquiry has reached the management stage they have come up with the price that would fit Castillo if he is to leave before his contract expires. He is a quality player and for him to attract interest from outside means they have seen something and that’s why the board and management think that the right price could be around R40 million,” said the siya source.
“It’s not like there is anything official from Zamalek at the moment but they are preparing for any eventuality and hence they have come up with that price tag,” the source added.
“You know his contract is only ending in June 2025 and his value is high because he is an international player and he didn’t come cheap to Chiefs as well. They are considering all those things for them to charge any team that would want to sign him whether it’s this season” the source concluded.
