Kaizer Chiefs FC will face Orlando Pirates FC tomorrow on a Nedbank cup semi finals clash. Like Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane promised, Amakhosi will be looking forward to win tomorrow’s derby with the aim of winning Nedbank cup to end Kaizer Chiefs FC seven years trophy drought.
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has revealed which Amakhosi starting XI he would select for Saturday’s Soweto Derby in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.
Amakhosi enter the game in stuttering form, having lost two of their last three games in the league, which all but ended their hopes of finishing in the CAF Champions League spot.
However, they have beaten their Soweto rivals in five successive league matches, but will meet an in-form Buccaneers side on Saturday.
Jose Riveiro’s men are unbeaten in nine games, winning eight of them before dropping two points in injury-time against Royal AM.
Khanye believes Chiefs are too inconsistent in recent weeks, which could play in Pirates favour.
“I saw Kaizer Chiefs were happy when the draw came out,” he said.
“But I don’t think those players have the strength to win the trophy, because they are too inconsistent. They are inconsistent in the DStv Premiership, they win some and they lose some.
“In fact, they lose vital games. If they were winning all the games [they were supposed to win] I’m sure they’d be number two.”
When asked which starting XI he would select for Saturday’s Soweto Derby, Khanye made some interesting selection, most notably keeping Itumeleng Khune in goal, starting Eric Mathoho and Kgaogelo Sekgota.
“I would start with Itumeleng Khune, he has done well last week. The quality won’t change, Khune has a lot of quality. He’s helped them last week, they could’ve lost the game with three goals,” he explained.
“I would play 4-3-3, centre-back, for me, Eric Mathoho, Edmilson Dove, on the right [Reeve] Frosler, on the left with [Happy] Mashiane – left-back not wing.
“In the middle, I would put Cole Alexander and this boy [Samkelo] Zwane as well as Mduduzi Shabalala, playing like a diamond, with Shalabala right, Zwane left.

“Then I’d play [Ashley] Du Preez, Khama Billiat – if he is fit – and Sekgota. I saw Khama was with training them, he’s an experienced player and would play any given time in my team. If not him then [Christian] Saile.
Kaizer Chiefs FC head coach Arthur Zwane is set to make some changes as he is expected to welcome some new players who were out due to o different issues.
