Kaizer Chiefs FC head coach Arthur Zwane has shared an update on some players who are out due to injuries.
Nkosingiphile Ngcobo will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, Kaizer Chiefs FC head coach Arthur Zwane announced today. However, there is still optimism for Khama Billiat to make a come back before the season ends and before his contract with Kaizer Chiefs FC ends.
Prior to their Saturday home game against Marumo Gallants, Zwane provided an injury report for his team.
Chiefs approach the game having won four straight league games for the first time this year. This run has helped them reach 40 points, putting them on a par with SuperSport United in third place and Orlando Pirates in second place, both of whom have a better goal differential.
As the 2022/23 campaign is reaching it’s final stages that will decide whether Amakhosi will play in a CAF inter-club competition next year, Zwane had mixed injury updates on Thursday.
“Mshini is out this season, he’s not going to be available,” he said when asked by iDiski Times.
“Khama started jogging last week, if not the week before last. He’s far from returning to play, but we don’t doubt our bio is working on him before we can hand him over to football actions, which is the coaches on the field.
“Then we’ll take it from there, I will be fighting for his fitness and make sure that he’s ready to play. Otherwise we don’t want to risk and hurt him again.
“Tower just got back, fighting for fitness as well. Cole, he is the one that looks closest to the starting team.
After calling this campaign “the worst” in his young coaching career due to the many injuries, Zwane has once again elaborated on the matter, saying injuries to key players forced them to throw youngsters into the deep end.
“As I said earlier on, the number of injuries that we had to key players this season was a big blow for us,” he added.
“Now we were forced to make too many changes and putting other players under pressure, more especially the young ones because we wanted to bring them in gradually.
“I’m also proud at the same time that those we gave an opportunity to rose to the occasion.”
Players like Eric Mathoho, Cole Alexander, Khama Billiat, Nkosingphile Ngcobo and other injured players have missed lot of Chiefs games this season.
Kaizer Chiefs FC will face Marumo Gallants on Saturday at 20 hrs 00 min on the league clash.
