According to reports, Mamelodi Sundowns’ attacker is wanted by Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC, who wants to challenge for the CAF title.
SoccerLaduma reports that Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC has expressed interest in Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Aubrey Modiba.
The player appeared in nine league games for Mamelodi Sundowns this season; overall, he made 22 appearances across all competitions, which is good at Sundowns because there is too much competition.
Although the potential transfer is still in the negotiation stage, Siya sources close to both clubs have suggested that Simba’s pursuit of Modiba could be strong.
“Simba have shown interest in Aubrey Modiba. That’s between the two teams right now, I can’t say much about the details of the situation because Simba have shown interest and they have a deal with Sundowns,” said the siya crew.
“It does mean is a deal or an agreement yet. Yes they have shown interest and it will depend on what Sundowns will say on the whole issue as he is their player,” the source told SoccerLaduma
But the giants of Tanzania are patient suitors. Although they are excited to have Modiba’s defensive skills back on their soil, they may have to wait until the Premiership season in South Africa is over.
A second siya source went into further detail about the possible deal, outlining a few requirements that must be satisfied for it to go through.
“Simba are not in hurry right now. Though they want the defender as soon as they can but they indicated that they are willing to wait until the end of the season as to give the Sundowns time to look for a replacement if they are to the move. But what I know is that management and the technical team have been monitoring Aubrey Modiba for some time and they are willing to get him no matter the Financials, which will be involved at the end of it all,” the source observed
Stellenbosch FC’s left defenseman There is a chance that Fawaaz Basadien might take Modiba’s place at Sundowns because the club is reportedly interested in him and also Soweto giant Kaizer Chiefs are vying to sign him to replace Sfiso Hlanti.
