Manqoba Mngqithi, the coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, is allegedly vying to be the next head coach of Kaizer Chiefs.
His current deal with Masandawana reaches its expiry date in June next year and it remains to be seen whether he will extend his stay or head to the exit door as a number of clubs – with Kaizer Chiefs topping the list – would be keen on his services
With his contract expiring in June 2024, the former Golden Arrows manager has yet to finalize a new agreement with the Brazilians!
According to reports, Mngqithi is desired by both AmaZulu FC and Kaizer Chiefs; however, he finds Naturena to be more “appealing.”
“The Kaizer Chiefs job is one that appeals to him more but don’t be surprised if AmaZulu come calling again if things don’t go according to plan with their current coach at the end of the season.” an insider told Citizen.
“He has been respectful towards Sundowns and Patrice Motsepe who is also fond of coach Manqoba. So it wasn’t easy for him to just leave half way through his contract but as things stand, he won’t be renewing his current deal.”
In October 2023, Cavin Johnson was appointed interim coach of Kaizer Chiefs, after parting ways with Molefe Ntseki who was appointed as head coach of the club at the start of the 2023/24 season, but results have not been forthcoming.
In the DStv Premiership, Chiefs have only won three of their nine games under Ntseki Molefe. Kaizer Chiefs management said they will announce new coach at the end of the season. Don’t be surprised to see Manqoba Mngqithi taking over as head coach at Kaizer Chiefs.
