Mamelodi Sundowns FC head coach Rhulani Mokwena has released a statement that left some clubs fans especially Kaizer Chiefs FC fans very sad and fuming. Mokwena said the only big or best club in South Africa is Mamelodi Sundowns FC.

He even said the 2023 Nedbank cup will be won by an average team, because his clubs is out. For just a reminder, Stellenbosch FC kicked out Mamelodi Sundowns FC by defeating them by two goals to one.

Rhulani Mokwena has now claimed the Nedbank Cup is not always won by the best team after Mamelodi Sundowns FC’ exit.

“The hard one always is the league, that’s a competition where you have to be consistent to win it, it’s not always the best team that wins the cup, sometimes it’s the rub of the green to get the results,” Mokwena told the media.

“Take a look at the teams in the semi-finals, are they the best in our league, but it’s what it is.”

“I am responsible for bad results, and yes it’s my responsibility to be in front, especially when the team is not doing well, so all the blame and responsibility falls on my head and as I said, I’m very proud of the players and what they have done this season.”

Apart from that, according to football analysers – if Rhulani Mokwena does not win CAF champion league this would simply mean nothing special come out of his leadership as a Coach because the League was won five Times before he was wrapped in as a Head Coach.

Pitso Mosimane left Mamelodi Sundowns just after winning treble and under the leadership of Manqoba Mngqithi, Sundowns won treble with only one defeat under his belt.

Now comes Rhulani Mokwena era, he has won the League already and booted out of Nedbank Cup, left with CAF, to prove how best he is as a Coach and if he does not achieve this which means he must be Demoted and Manqoba Mngqithi promoted to become head Coach.

Manqoba Mngqithi was Demoted following Mamelodi Sundowns exit in the MTN 8 Trophy and the Chloorkop side has also been knocked out of Nedbank Cup under Rhulani Mokwena.

Mamelodi Sundowns FC is the team that always strengthen their squad by signing many new and quality players. This season only, Mamelodi Sundowns FC managed to sign the likes of Bongani Zungu, Marcelo Allende, Abubakar Nassir and many others.

Mamelodi Sundowns FC have already won the 2022 / 2023 league even before it ends. Unfortunately, they are knocked out of the league.

Since Mokwena joining Mamelodi Sundowns FC, Sundowns have been performing well. According to the statement that was released by Manqoba Mngqithi, Mokwena even made a change by giving them information about Pirates, and that made it easy for Sundowns to win against the likes of Pirates. He is what he said;

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi says Rhulani Mokoena gave them good insight on the Orlando Pirates players after their Nedbank Cup drubbing.

“I think the game panned out the way we anticipated it, a lot of good work from coach Rhulani [Mokwena] in giving us better insight on individual players, their challenges and it showed immensely on the performance,” Mngqithi told SuperSport TV.

“Because we knew a little bit more and areas where we can punish them, credit must be given to him for that. Coach Steve [Komphela] worked very hard to demand the press, which is what we demanded a lot from this game and the players responded.

“We should have scored more goals than what we scored, I think if I’m not mistaken I saw maybe were three or four possible penalties that we should have had, on transition we created some good moments in the first half.
