As a reminder, Kaizer Chiefs FC appointed the former Al Ahly and Pitso Mosimane’s assistant coach Cavin Johnson weeks ago. He was appointed as a head of academy and will be part of scouting activities. Kaizer Chiefs FC head coach who was appointed as the coach before the start of the season, has finally broken his silence.
Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has spoken about the influence and role the recently appointed head of Academy Cavin Johnson has in the first team.
The former Al Ahly assistant coach was appointed last month to oversee the club’s youth academy and scouting.
The sixty four years old has been involved with the development of young players before at Transnet School of Excellence as well as the Royal Bafokeng Sports Academy.
Ntseki was asked ahead of the Carling Knockout Cup clash against AmaZulu FC about the role Johnson has with the first team.
Molefi Ntseki’s comment was shared just after the club’s chairman birthday, as Kaizer Motaung was celebrating seventy nine years old.
“At Kaizer Chiefs, we have technical conversations and they take place anytime. We were [recently] celebrating the chairman’s birthday and there was a technical conversation in our celebration,” explained Ntseki.
Molefi Ntseki on Cavin Johnson’s role at Kaizer Chiefs first team as a new member.
“So, coach Cavin Johnson will always be part of our technical meetings. He has a vast amount of experience in the game. So it is always very interesting for us to be having those technical conversations.
“But I think the most important thing is that he has got respect and confidence in our team. In terms of how we do things. It is just a matter of time before things fall into place. But like I said every member of Kaizer Chiefs, we always engage and involve ourselves in our discussions,” he added.
Amakhosi are set to host AmaZulu FC in the Last 16 rounds of the Carling Knockout on Saturday. It will be the second meeting between the two clubs this season with Chiefs coming out 3-0 victorious in the DStv Premiership clash in August.
“What I have always been saying is that every game we play is a cup game. So we have not been winning Cup games and I think now it’s the time for us to turn the corner.
“We fully understand that it comes with hard work, it comes with proper preparation going into this match. At the same time you give respect to your opponent. At the same time, there is only one team that has to win on Saturday,” said Ntseki ahead of the match.
Kaizer Chiefs FC will play against Amazulu on Saturday in a Carling black label cup clash, kick off 18:00.
