According to Goal, Siyabonga Gumede has been asked to fill the position left vacant by Eric Mathoho and has been sighted practicing with Amakhosi.
During practice on Wednesday, the Defender of the Year for the Chiefs reserve team for 2021–22 was spotted.
The newest academy product to be called up to train with the senior team is Gumede.
He was called up to take the place of Mathoho, a legendary Amakhosi player. Amakhosi require a defender to take Mathoho’s place in practice now that he is sidelined indefinitely.
A young and gifted center back, Gumede is 18 years old.
