During Kaizer Chiefs FC and Chippa United’s game yesterday, Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen was a captain. Newly Chiefs appointed coach Molefi Ntseki revealed why he decided to give the arm band to Petersen on the absence of both Itumeleng Khune and Keagan Dolly.
Both Khune and Dolly were announced as players who will lead Chiefs during the 2023/2024 season.
According to head coach Molefi Ntseki, Petersen was trusted to be a captain because he has been with the club for a very long time. As a player, he has settled and can lead.
Ntseki says he believes Petersen is a leader and can found it easy to lead other players.
Apart from that, Petersen on what makes Castillo a perfect signing for Chiefs, according to Petersen, the talented midfielder has a great vision and is good on the ball. He expects the 29-year-old to be bossing the midfield once he has gelled in the team.
“Quality, I haven’t seen a player like him in a while, his vision, just his understanding. There is a language barrier, but as soon as you explain something to him with the ball, he gets it like that and does it,” said Petersen.
In other news, new Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Edson Castillo has sent a message to Amakhosi fans, saying he wants to “win many trophies” with the club.
Castillo, 29, became the third Venezuelan player to move to Naturena, following in the footsteps of Jose Torrealba and Leandro Perez.
