Orlando Pirates are expected to make roster changes for the upcoming season, including potential changes in the goalkeeping position.
Pirates’ four senior goalkeepers this season may not be the same as they are next season, this is because there will be changes to their squad. Pirates may decide to release at least two of their keepers, which is one reason why things could end differently. Exits have previously been connected to people like Richard Ofori and Siyabonga Mpontshane.
In addition, the rumors that they are leaving have been fueled by their lack of activity thus far this season. But unlike Sipho Chaine, other club keepers don’t appear to have that issue.
Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine is set to sign new deal with the Buccaneers, according to SoccerLaduma.
“The talks have been going on for some time now. You remember last time I indicated to you that they will agree a new deal. Now it is as good as done. It’s almost 90% done. It’s a three-year deal. The club wants to make sure they keep the best in that department and Sipho (Chaine) is one of them. “You know he was the ]rst choice before the injury and even now they still consider him the number one though Melusi (Buthelezi) is being used in his absence. So, the new three-year contract will run until June 2028. For now I can say the deal is imminent,” said one source to the publication.
“This is like securing the future of their club’s goalkeeping department. We can’t say for sure about Mpontshane and Ofori for now but at least the team has made sure that they will still have Chaine and Buthelezi. By reviewing Chaine’s contract for another three years until 2028 it’s a good sign for the club going forward,” said the second source.
