Due to his lack of playing time with the Orlando Pirates, Monnapule Saleng may decide to leave the team and play the rest of the season with another PSL team.
Under Jose Riveiro, the defending DStv Premiership Players’ Player of the Season dropped down the rankings and barely made an appearance this season.
Saleng wants to play for a different team in order to rejoin the national squad, according to Soccer Laduma.
“The thing is he is not playing regularly this season and the club feels he needs to get some game time and rediscover his form. That’s why they want him to go out on loan. It;s not a finalised move yet because they are looking at teams which would be interested in getting him on loan until the end of the season,” said the publication.
“Then when he comes back, maybe he could rediscover his form. That’s why the team wants to send him out on loan.”
Saleng hasn’t performed well for the Pirates this year. Compared to last season, when he scored 11 goals in 22 league appearances for the Sea Robbers, he only scored once in the 11 league games that he played this season.
Despite having players up front like Zakhele Lepasa, Evidence Makgopa, and Kermit Erasmus, Pirates have struggled to score goals and have not impressed this season.
Saleng may need to go on loan, and since his contract is supposedly up next year, he may want to get back on track before the new campaign begins.
