Thabiso Monyane, a recent graduate of the Orlando Pirates academy, appears destined to stay with the team past the current campaign.
Monyane, a 22-year-old product of the Orlando Pirates Development Academy, started his football career in 2012 when he went to tryouts with the Buccaneers. Since then, Thabiso has worked his way through the ranks, earning a spot on the first team for the 2019–20 season. Monyane is focused on getting better with each game in order to contribute to the team’s bigger objectives.
Monyane has made 45 appearances for the Buccaneers in total after being promoted to the main team in 2019.
The full-current back’s deal is slated to expire in June, but rumors claim the team is putting together an extension offer for him!
For Jose Riveiro’s team this year, 22-year-old Monyane has made 17 appearances.
The source has confirmed the story about Orlando Pirates Right-back Thabiso Monyane who is set to extend his contract.
“He is an Orlando Pirates development player. He knows the culture very well and he understands the system better.” a source told SoccerLaduma.
“Monyane is still young but he has shown that he has a bright future. That’s why the team wants to keep him for another four years until 2027.
“Its not a done deal yet but it is almost 90% done. They are still talking but as I have said, I don’t see any problem as he is an Orlando Pirates player from the development and is still younger”.
“He is only 22 years old and has a great future ahead of him. As soon as everything is completed I will tell you as well.”
This season, Orlando Pirates have seven defenders, including Innocent Maela and Paseka Mako at left back. Nkosinathi Sibisi, Olisa Ndah, Thapelo Xoki, and Sandile Mthethwa are the central defenders, with just Thabiso Monyane serving as the right back.
