According to South African’s top known journalist known by the name of Lorenz Köhler, another top PSL team has rejected a millions offer from another PSL club for the service of their winger.
At the moment, teams are planning to sign players with the aim of strengthening their squads, during the current mid – season transfer window.
Richards Bay chairman Sifiso Biyela has confirmed that Cape Town City have tabled an offer for Sanele Barns, but also insisted the player is not for sale.
According to iDiski Times sources, City tabled an offer of R2.5 million but the club considered it too little. And what makes a potential deal even harder is that the offer comes at the time when Bay desperately need to hold on to their important player in the side.
Barns, ironically, was signed by Bay after his former club University of Pretoria came second to Bay for promotion, with the KwaZulu-Natal club gaining the promotion by winning the Motsepe Foundation Championship in the 2021/22 season.
While Tuks were denied the chance to play in the topflight via the playoffs, Barns had impressed Bay management enough to sign him at the start of last term, when he was handed a three-year contract until 2025.
“There are teams that want Barns, but unfortunately [for them] he has a contract with us until 2025,” Bay chairman Biyela told iDiski Times.
“Yes, I have their [City’s] offer, but he is not available [now], no matter how much, he is still not available.
“He has a responsibility of helping the club to survive, but he is not available.”
Bay truly cannot afford to lose such a player at this time after he has played 14 of the 16 league matches and is the club’s league top scorer with three goals along with three assists.
Barns was also the club’s top scorer last term in the league with four goals in 26 appearances.
They desperately need to hold on to him since they are second from the bottom of the table with 13 points from 16 matches this term.
Barns, since he arrived, has featured in 43 matches in all competitions and has scored seven goals. He has also been linked with Kaizer Chiefs, Sekhukhuned United and Stellenbosch FC.
In other news, Kaizer Chiefs FC is amongst teams are willing to sign more players to strengthen their squads very soon. Some names of top Chiefs players whom Chiefs management is really pushing hard to win their signatures, have bee revealed.
1. Riaan Hanamub – AmaZulu FC.
2. Siphesihle Mkhize – Sekhukhune.
3. Qobolwakhe Sibande – Stellenbosch.
4. Mohamed Hussein – Simba SC.
These players are already in Kaizer Chiefs’ radar for next season/transfer window. Chiefs Management granted technical team permission to identify players of their choice for future. Technical team together with scouting department reported back to the office that these are players they’d love to have.
Surprisingly, Kaizer Chiefs Management had already opened talks with the 3 clubs before the transfer window closed on 22 September. Qobolwakhe Sibande of Stellenbosch & Mohamed Hussein of Simba were targeted for this season, but Stellies felt that talks should be on hold and will be resumed in the next transfer so that they get replacement.
Hussein’s Simba SC were willing to sell their left back but the foreign spot in our team remained occupied after the arrival of González. AmaZulu FC also opted to keep their man after they rejected Kaizer Chiefs offer. However, I heard that management is preparing for a second improved offer for Hanamub in the next transfer window or next season.
Siphesihle Mkhize is the only one that was identified but yet to open talks with Sekhukhune.
Something is changing at Naturena! Soon we will reap the fruits. We appreciate what the management is doing. We are Kaizer Chiefs! We’re not confused.
