The Dstv Premiership team turned down an offer from overseas for their star player, who had already given the team impressive performances in the opening round of the season.
In his attempt to keep Saudi team Abha FC from going down, Pitso Mosimane has already attempted and failed to entice a PSL star to his cause.
Pitso Mosimane’s Abha FC in Saudi Arabia made an alluring offer for star striker Iqraam Rayners, but the Stellenbosch Football Club turned it down.
Since his return to Stellenbosch Fc in January 2023, Rayners has been a key player. After 34 games, the 28-year-old scored 21 goals and provided four assists, making an instant impact.
iDiski Times reported: “This publication understands that Mosimane’s club submitted a bid for Rayners just after the Premier Soccer League window transfer closed and Stellenbosch rejected the offer.
“The PSL summer transfer window was closed on 26th January, while the window in Saudi Arabia was open until 30th January.”
Now on a temporary contract, Mosimane has a difficult task ahead of him because his team is five points from safety in the Saudi Pro League, sitting in 17th place. Mosimane is hoping to turn around the struggling team in the final 15 games.
