Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says it’s imperative to try and meet the PSL coaches to share information and discuss the progress of the core of his squad ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

With Broos now seemingly finding his regular squad heading into Ivory Coast in January, there’s been question marks over certain commissions and even certain selections, as is the case for every national team around the world.

But iDiski Times probed to the national team coach whether he is happy with the progress of his players at club level, as he only has a brief period with the said players during FIFA International breaks before the upcoming continental showpiece.

“You know as a coach of Bafana Bafana, you don’t know [much details], I already said in the past, when I see the games of PSL, I know that the level can improve, we have to improve it,” Broos said when asked about the progression of his core group of players.”

With the squad camping at the High Performance Centre (HPC) at the University of Pretoria, they are undergoing physical tests and have access to world-class facilities ahead of the final qualifier against Morocco this weekend.

Broos addressed the need for the senior teams and junior national teams to have access to these sorts of facilities going forward, as well as more regular camps and friendly fixtures in order to build a stronger national team. But his main point on progress at club level, he feels the communication should start now.

“What we’re doing now, those tests, the results of these tests for me, will be information but I can’t work with it, because they are going [back] to their clubs, but I will work with them, I will send this information to the clubs involved,” Broos explained.

“And it’s up to them to do something with it and I hope they will do something with it, so I try to help a little bit. And maybe… let’s hope, I’ve tried for two years to do it but maybe we can meet all these coaches and explain a little bit [what I want to do].

“When we have these test results maybe I can give them further information also, and that’s the reason, the first reason for us, is data but also maybe to share it with the clubs so they can do something with it.”
