Thembinkosi Lorch, the star attacker for Orlando Pirates, is reportedly being pursued by Mamelodi Sundowns, the defending South African Premier Division winners.
Sources close to Lorch claim that Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena is a huge fan of the 30-year-old and is prepared to spend a lot of money to acquire the player, who can play as a winger, a second striker, or a playmaker.
Mokwena, who was previously an assistant coach for the Pirates, is rumored to get along well with Lorch and think he can give his already talented team more depth and adaptability
The Pirates are eager to retain their valued asset, who has shown loyalty to the team over the years, so the transfer may not be as simple as it first appears.
Lorch, a 2015 graduate of Maluti FET College, has played 149 games for the Buccaneers, tallying 34 goals and dishing out 29 assists.
In 2018–19, he was also named Players’ Player of the Season and PSL Footballer of the Season. According to reports, pirates are only willing to release Lorch if they receive a large payment and have adequate cover for him.
Thembinkosi Lorch nicknamed “Nyoso” started his career at Katlehong young Stars based at Qwa-Qwa before Joining Maluti FET College FC. And after a game against Jomo Cosmos, got a call from Screamer Tshabalala who told him that Pirates was interested in him. His first PSL game was against Free State Stars, playing for Chippa United on loan from Orlando Pirates in the 2016-2017. He has also been loaned out to NFD outfit Cape Town All Stars in the 2015-2016 season.
