The most recent reports suggest that Kaizer Chiefs supporters might never again see the legendary goalie Itumeleng Khune in club colors.
It appears that Kaizer Chiefs have already decided what will happen to Itumeleng Khune in the future. At the beginning of the season Kaizer Chiefs confirmed this is last season of Itumeleng Khune at the club.
Since being promoted to the Chiefs first team in 2004, Khune has been a one-club man. But it looks like after 20 years the goalkeeper is set to departure with Amakhosi.
Khune has been a mainstay for Chiefs for a long time, starting as their number one goalkeeper for more than ten years. However, the 36-year-old’s poor form and injuries in recent years have caused him to be dropped.
However, sources close to The Citizen Website now speculate that Khune may have played his final game for the Chiefs.
“He (Khune) knows that his time is up because he can see that he’s being pushed out. There’s also an agenda that is being pushed by certain senior players within the team to get him out and he’s also aware of that. The bottom line is that he would love to play beyond this season and it looks like it won’t happen unless Chiefs have a change of heart.” Said a source to the publication.
Amakhosi is rumored to have pursued Stanley Nwabili of Chippa United and extended a two-year contract offer to Bruce Bvuma.
