Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Khama Billiat has been Club less, since leaving Kaizer Chiefs at the start of the season, after both parties failed to reach an agreement on a new contract.
Though it’s not official, it is believed that Kaizer Chiefs cut 10% from his initial salary, and Khama Billiat was not impressed at all with that decision which saw him leave.
With Khama Billiat having failed to secure a contract in the January transfer window, sources have spoken about growing concerns on the player’s situation.
There was excitement about the former Kaizer Chiefs star’s potential return to competitive football after he was recently spotted training with SuperSport United.
However, the attacker has since left after the Tshwane giants decided that they would not be signing him after only a few days of his assessment.
Billiat has been without a club since leaving Chiefs prior to the start of the season and there have been concerns about his future after all the clubs he has been linked with didn’t sign him.
While there has been no update from the player or his camp regarding their plans, sources close to the 33-year-old have been worried about the time he has been without a club.
“The truth of the matter is that Khama Billiat needs to play competitive football and football without him isn’t the same for many. He is one of the most loved players and surely his fans miss him too for what he has achieved in the game over the years,” said the source.
“We do understand that mistakes happen in football and in life and no one is perfect, and maybe he made a mistake (by leaving Chiefs). It’s all part of learning. Maybe he will be the first one to admit that he made a mistake of a lifetime, but life should go on and he needs to return,” the source said.
Billiat is a free agent and can sign with any club outside of the transfer window.
