An Orlando Pirates legend has provided an explanation for why their star player, Monnapule Saleng, is having trouble getting into the team.
Monnapule Saleng has found it difficult to carry over his performance from the previous season for Pirates. Actually, in recent weeks, the quick winger has had difficulty breaking into Jose Riveiro’s starting lineup.
Orlando Pirates legend Bruce Ramokgadi has explained why Monnapule Saleng is struggling.
“The new players always come in and compete to prove a point. Saleng himself did that last season and it worked for him. Now, there are players competing with him in that position and are doing better than him which obviously affects his form on the field of play.” – Orlando Pirates legend Bruce Ramokgadi told SoccerLaduma.
“The other thing is that when new players come in you find that you don’t understand each other very well. That seems to be affecting Saleng as well. But it all boils down to form. I think he is not in form now and the coach is preferring using other players in that position.
“But it doesn’t make him a bad player. He is still a good player and he just needs to be given that chance to rediscover his form and he will perform for the team just as he did last season.”
