Arthur Zwane has broken his silence by talking publicly that he is one of the coaches who does not take or like nonsense.
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up on how he has helped youngsters realise their dreams from junior ranks at Naturena.
Prior to managing the senior team, the 49-year-old tactician was working at the club’s academy.
Zwane has mentored a number of players that have gone on to become the senior team’s regulars.
Moreover, Njabulo Blom, who was identified by him in the Soweto local leagues at the age of 15, recently jetted off to greener pastures overseas.
The 22-year-old signed for MLS side St. Louis City SC in December last year.
Among the notable names that have made it from the academy under his guidance: Blom, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Siyabonga Ngezana, Mduduzi Shabalala, Happy Mashiane, and Samkelo Zwane.
Zwane says being a “disciplinarian” has been key for him in developing players for the Glamour Boys.
ARTHUR ZWANE: ‘I DON’T TOLERATE NONSENSE’
“It’s simple, me I’m a disciplinarian and I don’t tolerate nonsense,” he said.
“At the same time, I give credit and give them boost and also make sure that they do the right things.
“Hence, I’ve alluded to the situation of Reeve [Frosler], in terms of the injury, he’s been out.
“He’s been off, when you look at him, how he came back and gave his best. And he did wonders today, we didn’t have a problem.
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane addressing media
‘I don’t tolerate nonsense,’ says Arthur Zwane.
“I was not even worried Solly came to training on Thursday sick. I knew that we have Reeve ready and we still have cover from Zitha. We can always improvise like we’ve done in the past.
“So, it goes down to one thing, discipline. If you want to make it big in life.
“If you want to do good things in life, you want people to respect you and the game to respect you and reward you, you have to be disciplined.”
Months ago, Zwane even confirmed that he hates players who drink or smoke. Read what he said below;
Why coach Arthur Zwane doesn’t like players who drink and smoke
Last year, Leonardo Castro and Daniel Cardoso revealed that there was an alcohol problem at Kaizer Chiefs’ headquarters in Naturena.
“I’m the most difficult coach to work with. Discipline comes first and I always remind them. I don’t like players that drink and smoke for many reasons,” Zwane said.
“I for one don’t even go to parties at some point. Maybe if it’s something happening at home, I’ll just show up for one hour and go home for obvious reasons.
“I’m not saying they mustn’t socialise but I’m saying a complete footballer needs to know what he wants.
“Gone are those days where professional footballer would have 20 friends, you must know what you want, you must know your circle, you must know who you mix with at home, who you trust and who you don’t, who you want to work with and how to improve your game.
“There’s no time anymore to have 20 friends, you go to Soweto, and from there you go to Sandton. You have to focus on yourself.”
