There is a latest update of Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Kaizer Chiefs FC in just few days before the registration period closes.
Kaizer Chiefs FC fans have been calling for the management to sign Mthethwa from Stellenbosch FC. Before Chiefs signing the international six, Edson Castillo, they showed an interest on signing him. However, the current update from inside source, is not sounding sweet to the readers, Amakhosi fans to mention.
At the moment, there are rumours indicating that Chiefs want to sign Mthethwa again after failing couple of months ago. Unfortunately, those rumours, are not true at all, Mthethwa is not looking set to join Amakhosi.
A team that has showed an interest, is Orlando Pirates FC. It has been reported that Orlando Pirates FC has contacted Stellenbosch FC, regarding the availability of Mthethwa. Pirates is a team known of breaking the bank for the sake of purchasing a player.
Pirates last game was a win against Stellenbosch FC, 2-1 in MTN 8 semi-finals first leg. However, Chiefs’ last game was against Mamelodi Sundowns FC, on a 1-1 score line in the same competition.
Here are Calvary Best of Chiefs page admin analysis on Chiefs VS Sundowns!
° We had a first half we’d want to forget, although there were some good things we did. In football you bully an opponent using your strength & not expose a lot of your weaknesses.
° We pressed well, our defensive structure closed their passing channels especially them being a team that plays in the pockets. But they failed & went rondo the whole half. Circulating the ball in wrong areas & where they won’t hurt us. We frustrated them, the only shot on target they had was bcs of our mistakes (Mdantsane) & we forced them to take shots from range. They couldn’t penetrate our box which is job well done by the team.
° We had a plan, transition football is not something new. There are also drills at training as to understand passing channels we gonna exploit when we get the ball, if you realized, all balls were played to Mdantsane. Trusting him to initiate play & break the attack. He didn’t do that a couple of times & ended up losing confidence. We then lacked patience on the ball & started kicking it with no direction.
° Somehow both our fullbacks let us down as well when we had to break, there were moments where Petersen found them with passes but they lacked technic passing the ball outside/just rush & pass opponents. The low block we created (sitting back) was due to inviting an opponent to our own half bcs we wanted space behind their defense due to having our speedy players. Because think about it, if opponents are not in our half, how is Du Preez gonna function? Where is he gonna run ? So he needs space to do so & punish them, unfortunately we didn’t see much of that.
° Beginning of a match, Sundowns did something they not used to do. Which was having a lot of numbers at the back in their build up. They had about 8 players in their half which shocked me. But I realized they were doing it bcs we were counterpressing & they didn’t want to leave to much space behind for our pace Incase they lose the ball. After they realized we were not dangerous, they got freedom & came to us.
° Castillo was a Man of the match for me. A lot of ppl are saying what did he do, MOTM is about an impact you had, not about ball possession. He didn’t allow Sundowns to play the way they want, he destroyed everything they were building in the middle & intercepted/won many balls, I even lost count. He sets pressing traps & win them. Maart was there as well to do the same Job, just Castillo was exceptional. I wish Mdantsane came to the party when it was his turn to make us play.
° When Mdantsane didn’t help us in the middle, our defense started playing long balls. But our mistake was not taking care of second balls, we were very poor! They won all the second balls , both when we attack & defend. We were following the ball all the time but not anticipating when after it bounces. Also Pule Mmodi was drawn out of position a number of times due to Mdantsane lacking to press properly, which leds to Mmodi doing a lot of work dropping too deep defending. He ended up frustrated & got a yellow card.
° Their goal there’s no need to talk about it, Hlanti slept with a player right in front of him. Same thing happened when we played Pirates, it’s disappointing when he can’t scan both opponent & a ball when he’s a senior & experienced player. We expect those mistakes from youngsters. Also Maart told them at the back to watch Mudau, but Hlanti slept. But we move.
° When we opened a game we played well. I saw formation changing a bit to 4-4-2 after introducing González. Chiefs can play football maybe it’s just a lack of confidence! Build up to our goal was beautiful.. We overloaded the left side, had combination play. Check the picture, I highlighted where we had 6 players on one side(left). So when you overload you invite opponents to come rescue their teammate bcs we suffocated Mudau, they came, we squeezed them & shaped them the way we wanted. Then we switched play to right hand side where 2 our players are free. (Honestly, I used to see that system under Stuart Baxter) I listen a lot of press conferences, he even spoke about it one day.
° I’ve had a couple of fans saying Potsane doesn’t add value. Guys! Don’t risk Potsane, that guy makes very crucial runs for the team… He’s not always involved but when he gets involve we get something. Look at his hand all the time when he makes a run.. he’s always thinking ahead. That time he’s not even at his best. Beautiful goal by Castillo after making a run from deep, beautiful assist from Ashley as well.
° I was disappointed with our coach for not bringing in Saile. When they equalised, they also overloaded left hand side with Mashego, Nku & Mendieta. Mashego is a left back but he always around our box, if you bring on Saile, you know Saile is gonna bully that guy running at him the whole time to pin him back so that he won’t come to us, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. But they were gonna be so worried about Saile bcs he doesn’t pass the ball often but he runs at them.. & he scored previous match, I’m sure his confidence was high.
° Credit to Our defensive structure & our Goalkeeper coach & Credit to Brandon Petersen! His positioning has improved a lot! At times I was worried why he wasn’t moving kanti he knew what he was doing, he made some good saves. And he won every aerial balls from their set pieces/corners. Credit to our Center backs as well, they always come to the party.
