Argentine side Club Atlético Lanús have confirmed the transfer of Matías Esquivel to Mamelodi Sundowns, as first reported by iDiski Times.
Masandawana have agreed to sign the midfielder in a deal worth $2.5-million (R46.7m), as reported by iDiski Times two weeks ago.
The Argentine had agreed personal terms last month, after a standout campaign with the Primera División outfit as they finished fourth in the 28-team division.
Esquivel is likely to arrive in South Africa this week after being pictured at the airport and will join the DStv Premiership leaders’ mid-season pre-season preparations during the Africa Cup of Nations.
His club have now announced his move to Sundowns, while the PSL side are yet to unveil their new arrival.
“We inform the transfer of Matías Esquivel to the Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club of South Africa; 10% of the token will remain in the possession of the Club Atlético Lanús.
“As a footballer of the institution, Esquivel has registered 95 games and seven goals in all competitions.
“To Chino, one of the many talents of the garnet quarry, we wish him the greatest of luck. success in your next challenge.”
Esquivel is very happy to sign for Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club and hopes that he can add more value in the Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club attacking force since they are a team that dominates when it comes to mostly scoring goals as a Club.
Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club head coach by the name of Rhulani Mlungisi Mokwena is also excited for the signing of Esquivel because he will help the club especially in the continental Football when they play they Caf Champions league that they last won in 2016 which was also won on a back door.
Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club will announce the signing of Esquivel this week as he is already a Mamelodi Sundowns player.
