Orlando Pirates are yet to decide on the future of midfield maestro Makhehlene Makhaula, but have an option to extend in his contract beyond this season.
The 34-year-old joined Buccaneers in January 2022 after he had a good spell at AmaZulu, leading them to their first ever MTN8 final in Premier Soccer League history.
Despite his attributes, the former Free State Stars anchor finds himself in a situation that he is not used to, which is to be on bench in most of the time.
He only made four appearances this season in the famous black and white strip.
His representative Mr. Sizwe Ntsangase told this publication that the player has a contract with Pirates until the end of the season but it includes an option to extend his deal.
“As far as I know, Makhaula is still a Orlando Pirates player. He has the option on the contract,”Ntshangase told iDiski Times.
“But I’d say whoever wants to speak about him, must contact the club.”
If the Buccaneers are to extend the stay for Makhaula he will be with the club up until June 2025.
Orlando Pirates Football Club will make a statement at the end of the Dstv Premiership on the departure and arrivals of other players.
Some Orlando Pirates Football Club supporters want Makhehleni Makhaula to remain at the club until 2025 because he has a lot of experience that will help Orlando Pirates Football Club in their midfield and they hope that he will also be given a fair chance in the second half of the season to have more chances of having his contract extended for a further year.
Orlando Pirates Football Club head Coach Jose Riveiro will make new announcements of player signings at the end of the season but he is a coach who is also fond of experienced players.
